The Terms

Cast Iron Print Works Terms & Conditions

Good work starts with everybody knowing what to expect. These terms cover the nuts and bolts of working with Cast Iron Print Works. By approving an estimate, paying a deposit or invoice, or authorizing us to begin production, you agree to the terms below.

‍

Estimates & Pricing

Estimates are valid for 30 days unless otherwise noted.

Pricing is based on the products, quantities, decoration methods, artwork, and other project details included in your estimate. Changes to any of those details may change the final price.

Garment sizes 2XL and larger may carry an additional charge based on the product and size selected. Any applicable extended-size pricing will be reflected in your estimate or final order pricing.

Garment and product pricing can also change based on supplier availability, freight, tariffs, or other costs outside our control. If something significant changes before your order is approved and purchased, we'll let you know before moving forward.

‍

Payment

Payment terms will be shown on your estimate or invoice.

Deposits or upfront payment may be required before we order goods, begin artwork, or schedule production. An order isn't considered fully locked into our production schedule until all required approvals and payments have been received.

Any remaining balance is due according to the terms shown on your invoice.

‍

Order Approval

Your approval is our green light.

Before approving your order, please review everything carefully, including:

  • Products and product colors
  • Sizes and quantities
  • Artwork and spelling
  • Ink and thread colors
  • Decoration locations and approximate sizing
  • Shipping or pickup information
  • Any other project-specific details shown on your estimate or proof

Once approved, we'll produce the order based on those specifications.

Changes requested after approval may result in additional costs, production delays, or both. If production has already begun, some changes may not be possible.

‍

Artwork & Proofs

We'll provide artwork or production proofs when applicable.

Proofs are intended to show artwork, approximate size, placement, color, and overall direction. Because you're viewing a digital representation of a physical product, screen colors and mockups won't always perfectly represent the finished piece.

It's the customer's responsibility to review and approve spelling, artwork, placement, sizing, and other details shown on the proof.

Once artwork is approved, Cast Iron isn't responsible for errors that were present in the approved proof.

‍

Artwork Files & Design Work

For the cleanest production, artwork should be supplied as a production-ready vector file whenever possible. Preferred vector formats include AI, EPS, and vector PDF. Simply saving or exporting a raster image as one of these file types does not make it vector artwork.

High-resolution raster artwork may be accepted when appropriate for the decoration method and final print size. JPG, PNG, screenshots, low-resolution images, Canva exports, and other raster files may require additional preparation or rebuilding before they can be used for production.

If supplied artwork isn't production-ready—or needs to be created, rebuilt, cleaned up, separated, digitized, or otherwise prepared for production—additional art charges may apply. Our standard design and production-art rate is $95/hour unless otherwise quoted.

We'll let you know if the artwork you've supplied requires additional work before we move into production.

‍

Your Artwork

Artwork, logos, trademarks, and other materials supplied by the customer remain the property of the customer or their respective rights holders.

By providing artwork to Cast Iron, you confirm that you have the right or permission to reproduce it and authorize us to use it to complete your order.

The customer is responsible for claims arising from artwork, trademarks, or other materials they supply without the necessary rights or permissions.

‍

Our Design Work

Original artwork and design work created by Cast Iron Print Works or Fried Design Company remains the intellectual property of Cast Iron Print Works or Fried Design Company unless ownership or usage rights are specifically transferred in writing.

Payment for design time or artwork preparation does not automatically transfer ownership of the underlying artwork or working files.

If you'd like to purchase or obtain additional usage rights to original artwork we've created, just ask. We can determine what's appropriate for the project.

Production Files

Files created specifically to manufacture your order—including color separations, underbases, digitizing files, print-ready production files, templates, mockups, and other working files—are considered Cast Iron production assets and are not included with the finished order unless specifically agreed otherwise.

Of course, any original files you supplied to us remain yours.

Concepts & Unused Artwork

Concepts, sketches, mockups, and artwork presented by Cast Iron or Fried remain our property unless otherwise agreed.

Artwork that wasn't selected or paid for may not be reproduced, modified, or taken to another vendor for production without our permission.

‍

Product Availability & Substitutions

We don't manufacture the blanks—we just make them a hell of a lot better.

Garment and product availability can change quickly. Styles, colors, and sizes may become backordered or discontinued between estimate and ordering.

If an approved product becomes unavailable, we'll contact you with options before making a significant substitution.

We won't knowingly swap you into something substantially different without your approval.

‍

Production Quantities

We make every effort to deliver the full quantity ordered. Because custom printing is a hands-on production process, occasional spoilage can result in a small shortage.

If your project requires an exact quantity, let us know before production begins so we can plan accordingly.

We may order additional pieces to account for normal production spoilage. When those extras make it through production, we'll often make them available to you at the cost of the blank product rather than the full decorated price. You're never required to purchase quantities beyond what you originally ordered.

Any shortages will be reflected in your final invoice. We won't charge you for pieces you didn't receive.

‍

Production Variations

We take precision seriously, but custom decoration isn't manufactured by robots. Small variations can occur between individual pieces, including slight differences in:

  • Print or embroidery placement
  • Ink or thread appearance
  • Garment construction
  • Product dimensions
  • Fabric or garment color
  • Print appearance across different garment sizes or materials

‍

Reasonable variations inherent to the product or decoration process aren't considered defects. If something falls outside what we'd consider acceptable Cast Iron work, that's different. Tell us and we'll take a look.

‍

Customer-Provided Goods

We're happy to decorate customer-provided garments or products when they're appropriate for the process.

Customer-provided goods are accepted at the customer's risk and are subject to a $2.50 per-piece handling fee unless otherwise quoted.

We handle your goods carefully, but we can't guarantee replacement or reimbursement for customer-supplied items affected by normal production spoilage, hidden garment defects, dye migration, inconsistent materials, manufacturer issues, or other conditions outside our control.

We recommend providing 3–5% extra pieces whenever possible.

Customer-provided goods must be clean, new, production-ready, and accurately counted before delivery to Cast Iron.

‍

Turnaround & Deadlines

We'll provide an estimated turnaround or in-hands date for your project.

Production timelines begin once we've received everything necessary to move forward, including approvals, required payments, artwork, customer-provided goods, and any other information needed for production.

If you're working toward a hard deadline, tell us before approving your order.

Delays in approvals, payments, artwork, product selection, or other customer-supplied information may push the original production timeline.

Turnaround and delivery dates are estimates unless we've specifically guaranteed a deadline in writing.

‍

Rush Orders

Need it yesterday? Ask us. Rush production may be available depending on our schedule, product availability, and the requirements of your project. Rush charges may apply and will be communicated before we proceed.

Accepting a rush fee doesn't override circumstances outside our reasonable control, including carrier delays, supplier shortages, severe weather, or other unexpected disruptions.

‍

Cancellations

Once an order has been approved, we start putting things in motion—ordering goods, preparing artwork, reserving production time, and getting your project ready for the press.

If you need to cancel, contact us as quickly as possible.

Any products already ordered, artwork already completed, setup costs already incurred, restocking fees, shipping charges, or production already completed are non-refundable and remain the customer's responsibility.

If we're able to cancel or return unused goods, any applicable supplier restocking and freight charges will be deducted from the amount eligible for refund or credit.

Once decoration has begun, the custom portion of the order cannot be canceled.

‍

Shipping & Pickup

Shipping, delivery, and local pickup are subject to our Delivery & Shipping Policy.

Shipping charges shown on estimates are based on the information available at the time of quoting and may be adjusted on the final invoice once the order is packed and actual shipping costs are known.

Customers are responsible for providing an accurate shipping address and reviewing shipments promptly after delivery.

Carrier delays and other circumstances outside Cast Iron's control may affect delivery dates.

‍

Returns & Refunds

Because our work is custom, orders are generally final sale once production begins.

If we've made a production mistake or something isn't right with your finished order, let us know within 7 calendar days of pickup or delivery.

Returns, replacements, reprints, credits, and refunds are subject to our Returns & Refunds Policy.

‍

Unclaimed Orders

We'll let you know when your order is ready for pickup.

Orders left unclaimed for an extended period may be subject to storage charges. Orders remaining unclaimed for 90 days after completion may be considered abandoned and may be donated, recycled, or disposed of at Cast Iron's discretion, subject to applicable law. Any unpaid balance remains due.

‍

Photography & Promotion

We're proud of the stuff we make. Unless you've asked us not to, Cast Iron may photograph finished work and share it in our portfolio, website, social media, shop samples, or other promotional materials.

Working on something secret, unreleased, or under NDA? Just tell us. We'll keep it under wraps.

‍

Things Outside Our Control

Sometimes things happen that neither of us planned for—supplier shortages, carrier interruptions, severe weather, equipment failures, power outages, or other events outside our reasonable control.

We'll communicate with you and do what we reasonably can to keep the project moving, but Cast Iron isn't responsible for delays or inability to perform caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control.

‍

The Cast Iron Standard

We take the work seriously. We'll communicate clearly, sweat the details, and do our best to send every project out the door looking like something we're proud to put our name behind.

We ask our customers to do their part too: review your approvals, give us accurate information, speak up about deadlines, and let us know quickly if something doesn't look right.

Good work takes both sides. That's how we make something worth keeping.

‍

Returns & REfunds Policy

Everything we make is custom. Once an order hits production, those shirts, hats, prints, or other goods have been made specifically for you—which means they generally can't be returned, exchanged, or refunded.

That said, we stand behind what leaves our shop. If we made the mistake, we'll make it right.

‍

If something isn't right

Take a look at your order when you receive it. If something appears to be misprinted, defective, damaged, or different from what you approved, let us know within 7 calendar days of pickup or delivery.

Send us your order number, a quick description of the issue, and photos of the affected pieces. We may also ask to inspect or have the affected merchandise returned before determining the best fix.

If the issue is on us, we'll work with you to repair, replace, reprint, credit, or refund the affected pieces as appropriate.

‍

Approved Orders

Your approval is our green light to produce.

Please review your artwork, spelling, garment styles, colors, sizes, quantities, decoration locations, and other order details carefully before approving your order.

If the finished product matches the approved order and artwork, we can't offer a return, exchange, reprint, or refund for things like:

  • Incorrect sizes or quantities selected by the customer
  • Changes of mind after approval
  • Garment style, fit, or color preferences
  • Spelling, artwork, or other details included in an approved proof
  • Minor variations inherent to garments and the printing or decoration process

Custom work has a little character—that's part of making something by hand. Small variations in print placement, ink appearance, garment construction, and color can occur and aren't considered defects as long as they're within reasonable production tolerances.

‍

Customer-Provided Garments

Garments supplied by the customer are provided at the customer's risk.

We'll handle them with care, but we can't guarantee replacement of customer-supplied goods in the event of normal production spoilage, garment defects, dye migration, inconsistent fabric, or other issues outside our control.

For that reason, we recommend supplying 3–5% extra garments whenever possible.

‍

Worn or Washed Merchandise

Please inspect your order before wearing, distributing, or washing it.

We generally can't accept returns on merchandise that has been worn, washed, altered, or otherwise used. If washing reveals what appears to be a legitimate production or decoration defect, though, reach out to us. We'll review it with you and determine what happened.

‍

The Bottom Line

We're proud of what comes off our presses, and we want you to be proud to put your name on it.

If we missed something, tell us. We'll take a look, own what's ours, and find the right way to make it right.

Delivery & Shipping

We know there's usually a date circled on the calendar for your order. An event, a launch, opening day, somebody's big moment—we take those dates seriously. Here's what to expect once your order is headed out the door.

‍

Turnaround & In-Hands Dates

We'll provide an estimated turnaround or in-hands date when your order is confirmed.

Production timelines begin once we've received everything needed to move forward, including final order approval, artwork approval, payment or deposit when required, and any customer-provided goods or information.

Turnaround times are estimates unless we've specifically agreed to a guaranteed deadline in writing.

If you've got a hard deadline, tell us before approving your order. We'll make sure we're building the project around the right date from the start.

‍

Shipping

Shipping time is separate from production time.

When your order is ready, we'll ship using the carrier and service selected for your project. Shipping charges may be included in your estimate or invoiced separately depending on the order.

Shipping charges shown on your estimate are based on the information available at the time of quoting and may be adjusted on the final invoice once your order is packed and actual shipping costs are known.

Once your shipment is on the move, delivery timelines are ultimately in the carrier's hands. Weather, service interruptions, incorrect routing, peak-season volume, and other carrier delays can happen.

We'll do everything we reasonably can to help track down a delayed package, but Cast Iron can't guarantee carrier delivery dates or be held responsible for delays outside our control.

‍

Shipping Addresses

Double-check that address. Orders will be shipped to the delivery address provided with your order. The customer is responsible for making sure that address is complete and accurate before shipment.

Additional shipping, rerouting, or replacement costs caused by an incorrect or incomplete address may be the customer's responsibility.

‍

Lost or Damaged Shipments

If your shipment arrives damaged—or doesn't arrive at all—let us know as soon as possible.

Keep the packaging and take photos of any visible damage. We'll work with you and the carrier to figure out what happened and help determine the appropriate next step.

Carrier claims, replacements, or refunds are subject to the carrier's policies and the circumstances of the shipment.

‍

Local Pickup

Local pickup is available for orders arranged to be picked up at Cast Iron Print Works.

We'll let you know when your order is ready. Please wait for that confirmation before heading our way—the presses may be done cooking, but your order might still be getting counted, packed, and buttoned up.

Orders are considered delivered once they've been picked up by the customer or their authorized representative.

‍

Split Shipments & Multiple Locations

Need an order sent to more than one place? No problem. Split shipments, individual fulfillment, or delivery to multiple locations should be arranged before production is complete and may include additional handling, packaging, and shipping charges.

‍

The Bottom Line

We'll get your order packed right and headed where it needs to go. If there's a deadline we need to hit, tell us early. If something goes sideways in transit, tell us quickly. We'll stay involved and help get it sorted.
